Leave Your Legacy- Luciano Pavarotti leaves behind..
Leaving your legacy- your imprint on the world, that continues while we are gone.
While we are living, loving and being…. Mortality is all around us.
An excerpt of a post taken from EdithYeung.com reminds us that all of us are living legacy in one way or another. It is in reflecting that we grow; it is doing something that is bigger than ourselves that we touch lives and leave behind something worthwhile.
"Luciano Pavarotti died today….
He was an opera singer, a father, a husband and a humanitarian.
In an age of internet, money and business, Pavarotti and his work seem so remote from us and our daily lives.
I often encourage you dream, think and act. Pavarotti not only realized his dream, he lived beyond his own dream and stood for something that was much bigger than him.
I know we will forever miss his voice, but here are a few additional things that I want you to remember:
- As the United Nation's Messenger of Peace, he used his fame to raise awareness of UN issues, including the Millenium Development Goals, HIV/AIDS, children's rights, urban slums and poverty.
- His "Pavarotti and Friends" charity and benefit concerts raised millions of dollars to support numerous worthy UN causes including War Child, and victims of war and civil unrest in
Bosnia, Guatemala, Kosovo and Iraq. - He received the Nansen Medal from the UN High Commission for Refugees for his efforts raising money on behalf of refugees worldwide.
- With his close friend of Diana, Princess of Wales, they jointly raised millions of dollars to help the elimination of land mines worldwide."
Leave your legacy.
Live- a little bigger than yourself.
It doesn't have to be big.
It doesn't have to be world famous.
It just has to be your flavor.
Your style. Your way.
